Richards alumnus and coach, Jeff Kortz has recently been inducted in the 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame.

Along with the 2008 Boys basketball IHSA State Champion Team, Kortz will be honored On Sunday, Oct. 14 at Gaelic Park in Oak Forest.

Kortz graduated from Richards in 1987 and came back to coach for Richards later on in his career.

“I feel honored to be put into the Richards Hall of Fame – there have been a lot of really good athletes as well as a lot of really good Coaches here over the years. I am honored to be part of this prestigious group,” said Mr. Kortz.

Mr. Kortz coaches a number of sports, from basketball to baseball and football and yet shows no favoritism toward any. “Each sport is different and love every minute of it,” said Mr. Kortz.

A lot of the student-athletes at Richards have had him as a coach.

“He’s a great baseball coach and always helps us out when we need it,” said Joe Alba, sophomore.

Mr. Kortz continues to coach our Richards athletes and hopes to see his athletes get better.

“Whether its winning another Conference Championship or playing the best they can and improving in life in the classroom or the field, winning a State Championship would be the pinnacle but again it’s really about our athletes,” said Coach Kortz.
