Richards High School is going to be holding a walkout in support of the victims of the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Students can choose to participate in the event which is part of a national effort effort to bring attention to violence and school safety. The walkout will happen tomorrow, Wed, March 14, at 10 a.m.

The walkout is optional, those who choose to participate will be walking on the track for 17 minutes, to honor the 17 victims. Those who choose not to will be directed elsewhere on school grounds. At the walkout, there will be people walking around with signs and the names of the victims will be read out loud.

The walkout will begin shortly after third period starts when there will be an announcement over the speakers. Students will then be instructed to leave and head to the track.

Students who participate in the walkout can create their own signs to carry.

“I think it is really important to support students who wish to express their views. I also want to bring attention to gun violence and school safety,” said Mrs. Joyce Cruse.
