Richards wrestlers and coaches are serious about becoming the best wrestling program not only in the district, but in the state.

“One of Richards High School’s biggest team goal is to be number one at State,” sad Mr. Schultz, Richards wrestling coach.

Coach Schultz works to train the wrestlers harder, make them work out more, practice over the summer and get wrestlers to focus on their goals and health.

“As a coach we have a lot of responsibility to make our team great every single year,” Mr. Schultz said.

This year the wrestling team made strides toward that goal. Sophomore Ahmad Suleiman had won second place at the fresh/sophomore State Championship this year and he hopes “to achieve winning in first place in the State Championship,” he said.

Sophomore Motaz Alzaghari is looking to be one of the most undefeated wrestlers on the team.

“I will work hard to get to where I want to be,” said Alzaghari who hopes to earn a wrestling scholarship.

“As being on the wrestling team for the first year is a great experience,” said Alzaghari.
