In district 218, all schools have a preschool with the exception of Summit and Delta.

Preschool starts in the beginning of second semester and ends two weeks before finals.

At Richards high school, the preschool is named Little Bulldog Preschool, the preschoolers come at the beginning of second period and go home fourth period on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Mrs. Darcey Reczkiewicz is in charge of the Little Bulldog Preschool, she greets the parents and preschoolers as they walk in, in the morning and as they walk out.

“I was a little disappointed in the beginning because of the small number of kids we had in the beginning, but I am happy now at the end of the year,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz.

“I don’t like when we have small numbers in preschool because I feel that the students can’t have the full experience of preschool with a small number of kids,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz.

“I did like the preparedness of the high school students this year. We had a small number of high school students who came in and didn’t know they were teaching that day and did teach,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz.

The best part about preschool is when “After the five week mark because there isn’t any more crying and the preschoolers start to get used to our routine,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz

The preparedness, enthusiasm and enrollment of high school students are the reason why Mrs. Reczkiewicz keeps the class going and why she plans to continue this class.

“I would stop having preschool because not enough (high school) students take the class, also were not a state sponsored program,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz.

“The high school students are better this semester because they’re gaining experience and it’s nice when everyone knows what to do,” said Mrs. Reczkiewicz.

Child Lab takes work on Mrs. Reczkiewicz part and the students who take the class part as well.

Students from Mrs. Reczkiewicz third period child lab class were asked what was the best thing they experienced in preschool this year.

“The best thing I experienced in preschool this year was being around the kids, they’re fun and they make my day. I also like being around their different personalities,” said Jadan Hicks, senior.

“Mrs. Rec is a great teacher. She is pretty helpful and she made sure that your lesson plan makes sense,” said Jadan Hicks.

“The best thing I experienced this semester is that I built a bond with Chase,” said Tyania Ware of one of the preschool students.

“Mrs. Rec is a wonderful teacher, she may be hard on you but at the end of the day she has your best interest at heart,” said Tyania Ware.
